Academic Coordinator
Center for Eastern Science and Wellness
NIIBS Campus – Manelwatta, Kelaniya

It is with great pleasure that I extend a warm welcome to you on behalf of the Center for Eastern Science and Wellness (CESW) at the NIIBS Campus, Manelwatta, Kelaniya.

The CESW was established with the vision of bridging Sri Lanka’s rich traditions of indigenous knowledge with the modern needs of health, wellness, and sustainable living. At a time when the world is increasingly looking for natural, holistic, and integrative approaches to well-being, CESW strives to be a hub for learning, practice, and research in indigenous medicine, wellness sciences, and community health.

Our academic programs—including certificates, diplomas, and advanced training courses—are carefully designed to equip students with both theoretical understanding and hands-on experience. Areas such as Ayurveda, indigenous wellness practices, nutrition, medicinal plant cultivation, yoga, caregiving, and holistic therapies are taught with the dual aim of preserving traditional wisdom and making it relevant for today’s global context.

At CESW, we believe education must go beyond classrooms. Students actively participate in field visits, medical camps, herbal garden projects, and community wellness initiatives. These experiences not only enhance their professional skills but also instill in them a sense of service and responsibility towards society.

As Academic Coordinator, I am deeply committed to ensuring that our learners are guided by the highest standards of knowledge, ethics, and practice. I invite you to explore our programs, participate in our initiatives, and join us in our mission to promote health and wellness through the timeless wisdom of our indigenous traditions.

Together, let us create healthier individuals, stronger communities, and a sustainable future.
